I can't be sure if I was on the road before, when I left said road, or whether or not I'm back on that road now. I'm considering all sorts of radical restructuring of this site... Thought about moving my blog to somewhere where I can post via a web portal... something RapidWeaver, for all its charm, does'nt allow for. And while CushyCMS seems like it might offer some kind of jerry-rigged and/or MacGyver'd solution, all that seems to complex for my taste... I think. I was for a while thinking of moving it to The Pirate Bay's new blog service... That would certainly grant me some protection, but still, I don't think I'm there yet.
I'm also, (and I'm now whispering to you) considering changing hosts. Now don't get me wrong, MacDock has never done me wrong. But I do in fact get the distinct impression that the service for which I am paying is not only overpriced but also feature-poor. Seems like this web hosting tailored specifically for RapidWeaver may in fact be some kind of RealMac-MacDock racket. It may in fact be.
I'm also particularly concerned about things like MySQL and such, as I'm considering hosting a Wiki for my "Family Group" at Bishop's. And while the people at MacDock assure me that I should be able to install one, I get the feeling they're just giving me the runaround...
I'm too ashamed to tell you what they charge me, really... But I have indeed gotten most used to the cushy-ness of a paid host, so I'll likely just find me a cheaper one... I'm considering NearlyFreeSpeech.net if anyone has any input. I'll also have to redirect the DNS... and find some way to move my email... but the site itself should remain intact I think. And thats sorta comforting. Beyond that, it may afford me the chance to try new things. And you know how I love that.
