Blade: The Series

So, I went on the iTunes Music Store and the first
thing I see is this thing thats all like: "Blade: The
Series" and I'm like "whoa... that deserves a
click..." and what do I see? They've got only one
episode< (just premiered recently.) and it's the
pilot. So I think to myself, "Ooo... Maybe it's for
free if it's the pilot... yeah, sure they do that
sometimes..." I check and it is.
Well the next thing I do is call my friend Matt... to tell him of my discovery... (He just got a 5G 'Pod for his B-day)... and to my disappointment, he was more informed than I, he had even gone so far as to have it recorded, but he seemed a little interested when I mentioned it was free, and as he has yet to watch the episode, he was eager to hear my thoughts in the morning.
Still with me? I know this has been boring and uninformative, but you're reading a blog, so what did you expect?
Ok, I'll give you an abbreviated run-down...
First to list off all the things it delivers on:
-Mysterious Hero with Ultra-Hardcore ninja fighting skills: check.
-Sword: check.
-An epic task to complete: check.
-Sympathy Plot-Arc with some looser who gets shot to get everything going: check.
-Attractive Army Sergeant looking for the truth about her family member and or murder victim: double check.
-The Hero is shown to have a soft spot for a man/woman: Check. (woman)
-The woman the hero likes gets in over her head and now she's "on the inside": check.
-Fancy weaponry designed and maintained by an asian guy who sits surrounded by computer screens and talks the Hero through tough spots: check.
In the end I think the pilot delivered. I think its worth ever penny if you wanna watch it. It is free of course, so its very easily "worth every penny". Don't got the 'Pod for this vampire-slaying action? Let me remind you that you don't need a video iPod to watch the episode in iTunes... which is also free for download. So, no excuses...
///////////Spoilers\\\\\\\\\\\\
Blade's some kinda ninja that kills vampires. Christa is some army sergeant with a dead brother. Christa wants to learn the truth about her brother's death, and she gets in between Blade and some vampire baddies in her search. Blade is like, "take my advice, leave town and forget what you saw here." But of corse she doesn't... a mistake she may regret for several hundred years to come. After another run-in, Blade lets her join in on the fight to take down some big clan of vampires in detroit. She goes to a fancy party to meet some master of their vampire clan, but he recognizes her, and she can't place the transponder thing the asian dude said to slip in his pocket. So she's all like, "now we do this my way..." From what I can make of what happens next, she gets a sniper rifle from somewheres... and gives this fancy looking bluetooth headset to the boss of the vampire club via the doorman. So she acts all tough on the phone, like, "I'm looking at you through the sight of a sniper rifle", and he's not impressed. He has one of his goons jump on up to the top of the nearby building where she is, and his goon beats her good. For whatever reason, he's decided he likes her, likes her style, thinks she's got guts and stuff... so his plan is to make her a vampire. There's some level of trippiness about him making her a vampire and all though... like, "when the council finds out about this Marcus..." and he's all like "silence!" So, though you'd think there'd be some kind of dramatic entrance just in the nick of time there isn't! Marcus infects Christa via a direct blood transfusion. And then he does the damnedest thing. He makes this whole speech like, "and now you must die Christa..." and drops her off a building. When I saw that, I was like, ok... that doesn't make much sense... I mean, everything seemed to be set for a completely logical transformation but no... They do something dumb and weird. Wouldn't dropping her off a building like break all sorts of bones and things? I mean I get that you want her to come back to life as a vampire or whatever... But during that time between lives there.... Is she healing? cuz it would suck to awaken from death only to have like every bone in your body broken... And what if she looses blood? I mean, the whole thing revolves around the blood, what if the blood he just pumped into her just drains right away? That aside... She becomes a vampire and its show-time for blade. The asian guy warns him against it, but he decides it's not too late for her, he thinks that if he can get some of the serum he uses to sustain himself into her, he can turn her away from her bloodlust. Even though that plan has never worked in the past. So the race is on, he needs to find her before she goes and eats anybody.... and boy oh boy the guy beats up pretty much everyone he meets...
So like, we all knows how this is gonna go, he'll save her just in the nick of time, right? well... they take her to this safe-house they've got where they seem to be doing research on making every vampire into Blade or something... to get some blood into her. she has a little snack from the fridge while she waits and then they bring in the dirty cop guy that works for them bringing in bodies that they know she won't like because he was the one on her brother's case who was all like, "he got shot, big deal." on her. So she's hungry and she hates the guy, and she rips the dude's throat out, and sucks him dry. I should mention as a side note that one of the things this clan of vampires is up to seems to be the same of vampire dust as a drug. Apparently the dust gives you all the powers of a vampire for a few hours. And they make the stuff by taking people in telling them they're gonna be a vampire... turn them into some mindless vampire thing, have the dirty cop guy find hookers to feed them... and then they test the blade serum on them, which never works so they just sell the ash.
Anyways... Blade busts in and this burly servant of Marcus (a vampire himself) is all like, "give me the serum! I can take him!" and they do and it works... so now blade already has his first super enemy... Anyways, Blade gets through him without much trouble, gets to Christa gives her the shot of the serum and double-times out of the place. Having had a dose of the serum, Christa has a bit of a change of heart while in her chambers back at the vampire lair... She goes on over to her brother's grave to think. Her brother died trying to become a vampire, and now she is... Of corse, blade comes up behind her. He reveals that he was working with her brother... that he got him killed... at first she's mad but calms down when he says, "He was a good man." He offers her the same position, seeing as how she's already made it in. He gives her a case with the serum and a super stylish injector gun for her own use... she walks off and the episode is over.
